Spitpaints!

The weather in Chicago has sucked recently. And so has the amount of time I've had to paint. But fear not! Here are a bunch of Spitpaints I've been doing! For the unfamiliar, the Facebook group provides a number of different subjects, and we have 30 minutes to paint it out. Below are some of the ones I think came out the best.

Orc Peon

Into the Marshlands

Mutated Elephant (Mother 3 represent!)

Undiscovered Cave

Red Mist

I've also been hard at work on some other stuff too. Here's one of my latest WIPs.

Howitzer

A few more touches and details and he should be good to go.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to wrap myself in a hundred blankets and try to sleep the rest of this winter off like bad hangover.

Car Rendering and Sketching

Today I wanted to focus on cars. Started with some warm up sketches (about a minute each), then did a 1 hour study of THE BEST CAR EVER MADE, and then I tried applying what a learned (along with gratuitous use of the lasso tool) to a hover car sketch I did a while back. That also took an hour.

Reference photo here.

Looking at now, the hover car has a number of problems (Perspective and some design issues, namely), but that's OK. Just more stuff I now know I have to work on. :)

I'll probably do some car drafting exercises next week so I can further improve knowledge of car anatomy.
Now to catch up on some sleep!

Study day

I was sick today and didn't want to risk making things worse going out in what remained of Chiberia 2014, so I did some studies. Enjoy!

About 2 Hours? Wasn't keeping track. Here's the reference image.

The Executive

Inspired by a former boss who we shall say was not a pleasant man.

2013 is done. On to 2014!

So I sort of stopped posting around June. I place that blame on being incredibly busy at work and in life. But, between doing both those things, I learned how to art better! Here are some WIP portraits I cranked out a few days ago.

You'll also noticed the blog is a lot emptier. Well, I figured I'd put away older stuff that wasn't exactly representative of my skill, or what I intend to focus on over the next year (sorry 3D models!) But, that's OK, I've gone ahead and collected some of my favorite 2D images I've done in the past and put them in this single post for your convenience. Thanks for dropping by!
